Swimming Squad Training (Target Andrew 2018)
This is the final week of swimming training for this term. Swimming training will recommence in Term 4. Should girls wish to continue swimming, learn to swim and squad trainings are available at Dunlop Park Pool, Corinda. Please ensure you advise the staff that the child is a St Aidan’s student.
• Sessions are available to girls in Years 2 – 6.
• Sessions are designed to prepare selected girls for the Andrews Cup Competition held on 6 March 2018
• Girls must sign-in the St Aidan’s swimming attendance book at the pool for every session that they attend.
Junior School Swim Squad Selection
With the Andrews Cup Swimming competition being held on Tuesday 6 March at Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Chandler, parents are reminded that All Andrews Cup Swimming members will travel on a bus to the carnival venue. Girls are asked to assemble at Kathleen Street at 7.20am for 7.30am departure. Girls are required to wear their full sports uniform (brown shirt), including sports cap, to and from the carnival. Students must compete in their school togs and school swimming cap. All squad members and their parents are invited to the Celebration Breakfast, to be held at the Science and Technology Building (Secondary School) on Monday 5 March. The breakfast will commence at 7.30am. Congratulations to all girls selected and we wish all girls competing the very best of luck.
2018 Andrews Cup Touch Football
With the Andrews Cup Touch Football competition being held on Tuesday 13 March at Kearney Springs, Ruthven Street, Toowoomba, the Andrews Cup teams have been named based on skill, game application, combinations and attendance. Congratulations to all girls. An information letter has been distributed to all students selected, with a return slip due back to Mrs Anne Ferguson no later than Monday 12 March 2018.

2018 Cross Country Training
Cross Country training has commenced with the trainings designed to enable the students to improve their general fitness before the Junior School Cross Country which is to be held on Thursday 22 March at Ambiwerra. Whilst sessions are mainly designed for girls in Years 2 – 6; younger students are also welcome to attend. Three training sessions are offer with two afternoons’, Wednesday 3.45pm-5.00pm and Thursday 3.45pm-5.00pm and a morning session on a Monday from 6.45-7.45am at Ambiwerra. All sessions are held at Ambiwerra Sports grounds and a bus will collect students and take them back to school in the mornings and take them to Ambiwerra for the afternoons. Parents are to collect students no later than 5.00pm at Ambiwerra. Ms Lauren Murry, our Head Cross Country Coach, will be overseeing the program.

West Taylor Bridge Friday Clubs Competition
The 2018 Walter Taylor Bridge competition will commence this Friday with students from Year 4-year 6 travelling to various venues for their chosen sport. The Walter Taylor Bridge competition presents students with the opportunity to develop skills, match play and team work against a variety of local schools. The competition is held at a variety of local venues between 1.00pm and 2.30pm every Friday. Touch Football is to be held at Souths-Graceville Junior Rugby League Club, Graceville Avenue, Graceville and Netball at Faulkner Park (Western District Netball Association) Graceville. Parents who are wishing to collect their students directly from the venue are to contact their form teacher the morning of sport so that teachers in charge of that sport are advised early. Parents are to sign students out with the allocated teacher of their child’s team. All Touch Football and Netball training sessions are held at Ambiwerra Sports grounds and a bus will collect students and take them back to school in the mornings and take them to Ambiwerra for the afternoons. Trainings will commence in Week 8 with Netball held on a Tuesday afternoon (20 March) from 3.30-4.45pm and Touch Football will be held on Friday mornings (16 March) from 6.45am-8.00am. It is an expectation that girls wishing to participate in the Interschool Netball and Touch attend the training session each week.
Interhouse Cross Country Details
The Interhouse Cross Country will be held on Thursday 22 March at Ambiwerra Sports Fields. Whilst girls in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 will still be dropped off at school as normal, parents of girls in Years 3 to 6 are requested to drop off their daughters at the Ambiwerra fields in the morning after 8am. Where parents are not able to do this, girls in Years 3 to 6 may still be dropped off at school and they will be taken down to Ambiwerra at 8.20am. Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 girls will be transported to the Ambiwerra fields by bus before their race. A note will be distributed to all students in Years 3 – 6 next week, with a return slip specifying drop-off details due back to class teachers no later than Monday 12 March 2018.
A program for the carnival will be distributed to each girl in the Junior School closer to the date. This program will provide details of race distances as well as results from the previous year.
Specialist and normal lessons to commence in Period 3 for all year levels.
House coloured shirt, checked skirt / shorts and sports cap are to be worn on this day. Girls may compete in the brown athletics shorts or bike pants. The sports uniform, including sports shoes, may be worn all day (including to and from school).
Years 3 – 6 students will need to bring their morning tea with them to Ambiwerra. Girls wanting to order lunch from the tuckshop on Thursday must pre-order on Wednesday.
All students must bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
All students to bring a towel, spare socks and spare shoes.
All students are expected to participate – those with a medical condition must bring in a note. These students will receive a job to do for the morning.
Bus Travel to and from Ambiwerra – for training
Please be reminded that for morning training sessions, girls should be dropped at the Ambiwerra sporting fields (Erinvale St, Corinda) by parents. At the conclusion of the session, they will be transported to school on the school bus. In the afternoons, students will travel to Ambiwerra on the school bus (Kathleen St) and parents should collect them from the sporting fields at the designated time.
