statement of commitment
St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School support the rights of children and young people and are committed to protecting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of students. St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School is therefore committed to responding to allegations of student harm resulting from the conduct or actions of any person including that of employees, contractors and volunteers.
This commitment includes the provision of a safe and supportive living and learning environment for all students and requires all employees, contractors and volunteers to model and encourage behaviour that upholds the dignity and protection of students from harm.
In support of this commitment, St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School is dedicated to our Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy that includes having relevant policies, procedures and training in place to effectively address the safety and wellbeing of students in their care.
Safeguarding our Children – Student Protection in Anglican Schools: A Guide for Parents and Students
This is an important document, which was recently published by the Anglican Schools Commission and is relevant to all Anglican schools in Southern Queensland, including St Aidan’s. The guide outlines the processes about how St Aidan’s will respond to harm, or allegations of harm, to students under 18 years and the appropriate conduct of the school’s staff and students, according to section 16 of the Education (Non-State Schools) Accreditation Regulation 2017). It also highlights that there are strategies for communication and support, including information for parents and persons engaged by St Aidan’s that includes details of the risk management strategy and where it can be accessed (section 3 of the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening Regulation 2011).
