Humanities and Business

The study of the humanities enables students to think critically about the human and environmental interactions that shape their world. Business subjects promote awareness of the role finance plays for individuals, communities and globally. Awareness of multiple perspectives, bias and the nuances of decision making is a crucial skill for all active participants in the modern world and is developed through study in the humanities.

In Years 7 and 8 students study History and Geography on a semester-rotational basis. In Years 9 and 10 History remains compulsory and focuses on chronological understanding of the development of the modern world from ancient and medieval roots. The course takes in histories from the Australian region, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In Years 9-10 Geography becomes an elective subject. Topics include biomes and food security, and environmental change and management. Students in Years 9 and 10 also have the option to study business subjects such as personal finance, entrepreneurship and global money matters.

In the senior years, students can select Modern History, Economics and/or Accounting. Students may choose to study Geography through a Distance Education option.
